You don’t need to have it all figured out for the first week of 2026 🍾

We’ve just past that weird middle bit between Christmas and New Year that doesn’t get any less weird…no matter how old you are and how many times you live through it 🫠😵💫
What day is it? What month are we in? Is Christmas over? Are we still having picky bits and leftovers for dinner? It might be the first week of the new year, but that doesn’t mean it feels any less chaotic. For me, I tend to find the first week even worse as there is such a pressure and expectation to have it all sussed out.

Back to family duties and the dreaded school run = a lot.
I wanted to use today’s blog to send some digital reminders to whoever might need to hear them today. Things I’m encouraging my VIP clients try. Self-check-ins with myself.
Because this time of year can be weird and feel off. The comedown from the excitement and busy nature of the Christmas period. Being out of routine, tired, a bit hungover, skint, fridge is full of food you don’t normally eat and sleep routine is still very much not present.
Then there’s that lingering feeling of New Years Eve. Possibly still hungover (eek). Where society tells us we need to have o ur s**t figured out, set ambitious new goals, make resolutions and keep up with everyone else. That pressure sees us panic…We go into “all or nothing mode” where we start thinking about everything we didn’t manage last year, how much of a failure we are…
Telling ourselves that new year will be different; we’ll be DISCIPLINED, MOTIVATED, LOCKED IN 🔑 Which sets us up fall short, from day dot.
You might not feel great, super confident or comfortable right now. Which is understandable because you've probably been out of routine.
You might have eaten different foods, drank more coffee and alcohol than water or had different priorities this week.
But before you go balls to the wall, following a fad trending diet or panic mode….
Reminder for whoever needs it ⬇️
1️⃣ Lean into what makes you feel good this week-especially if you feel disjointed, disconnected or overstimulated by the last few days.
2️⃣ Just because someone tells you "just eat what you want", or "dont feel a certain way", it doesn't make it easier. You’re entitled to feel upset, annoyed, frustrated or overwhelmed. How you give it space, process it, allow it to affect you going forward is what matters.
3️⃣ You’re probably going to hear a lot of noise from both sides of fitness in the next few days; the "undo the damage of Christmas" people, but also the slightly less noisy, but just as full on "be kind to yourself" crew. Be wary, do your homework and try not to jump at the first thing you see promising to fix you.
4️⃣ You’re likely an adult if you’re reading this. Any decisions you've made over the last few days, hold yourself accountable to. You can sit with it, learn from it, move on from it and make your own mind up on things.
5️⃣ There’s no place for guilt, moral high grounds or shame around food. Your worth as a human can't be changed by what you've decided to eat recently.
6️⃣ You don't need to explain yourself to anybody or prove yourself in the next few days. You and the people who actually matter, will know why you chose to do whatever you're doing. Likewise, your goals, resolutions or actions going into new year should be meaningful to you and you only. They might impact others, but make sure they’re things you care about.
7️⃣ You don’t need a detox….unless it’s a social media one. Social media turns into a d**k swinging comp this time of year, where bragging rights and egos seem to be earned by who's discipline is bigger. Half the time, what you see online is far from accurate or people ACTUALLY LIE to dishonestly sell you onto something 👀 shocking I know.
8️⃣ If you're going into 2026, with the same goals or nothing "set in stone", that's fine. Your goals shouldn't resemble a bodybuilder calendar or be the same as everybody else's just because it seems everyone is doing Hyrox, Ultras or marathons.
9️⃣ Small hacks- movement, vegetables, fresh air, seeing pals, water, sleep and staying off social media can work wonders if you're feeling overwhelmed.
🔟 Before you do something, ask yourself; is this action bringing me comfort and true support....Am I acting inline with my values and goals…Will this action bring me closer to who I want to be in the moment but also long term? Then, proceed.
I'm willing to bet, so many exciting, fun and memorable things have happened to you over Christmas. Or you've did some pretty cool things with your pals, partner or family. You might hosted something fun for NYE . If New Year is symbolic or meaningful for you, I wish you the best ✨ It can be a great time to bring in some new goals, set targets and reflect. For a lot of you, New Year might be the metaphorical fresh slate you need.
A chance to grow. Improve. Make memories. Work on yourself. Travel. Spend time with friends and family. Do something scary. Try something new.
Or just continue with the momentum and progress you’ve already started in 2025!
